Information Technology is one of the major contributors to the growth of GDP and it has been playing a dominant role in Service Sector, especially, during the last one decade in the State of West Bengal. Information Technology is gaining momentum because of its capability to create jobs, generating huge export earnings and its application in the daily life of every person now.
Though a late starter, the Government of West Bengal has been laying special emphasis on development of Information Technology and has been able to achieve growth rate of 46% against National Growth Rate of 35%. The state has provided special dispensation in the matter of Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in sharp contrast to residential and commercial buildings by way of allowing FAR 5.9 against 2.75 in other areas.
NDITA has created job opportunities for nearly 70,000 boys and girls and indirect employment of another 20,000 people in a total area of only 430 acres of land.
NDITA launched two unique Projects on PPP model about a couple of years ago. The beautification of the entire Township Authority area has been taken up through a private partner, - now under implementation to the satisfaction of industrial units located in the area.
The water supply and sewerage network is also being implemented by a private partner on PPP model. The water supply and sewerage system have recently
been commissioned. The project will prevent further depletion of the ground water level of the Township area.
Security of the entire Township area is one of the major concerns of the Authority. The entry points of this Township are on constant and strict vigil and all kinds of vehicular traffic have to undergo rigorous scrutiny. Moreover, the entire area is now under 'electronic surveillance' through installation of CCTV at strategic locations and this special devise is now acting as Electronic Watch Dog round the clock.
NDITA has launched a unique method of collection and disposal of garbage by way of engaging a reputed company, - on contract basis. The Agency is taking care of collection and disposal of garbage by using mechanical devices and to facilitate this, we have already dismantled the open vats in Sector - V
The Authority is striving hard to instil a sense of confidence and for creation of environment conducive ambience to the growth of IT industries in Sector - V, now popularly known as "NABADIGANTA".
